Join us for an inspiring and informative event hosted by the San Joaquin Valley Integrated Behavioral Health Project in collaboration with the President of the American Psychological Association (APA), Dr. Debra Kawahara. This event is designed to guide and motivate individuals interested in pursuing a career in psychology, from high school and community college students to working professionals.

Speaker: Dr. Debra Kawahara, President of the American Psychological Association (APA)
Dr. Kawahara will introduce the Psyched for Success Program, highlighting pathways and opportunities for high school and community college students in the field of psychology.
Graduate Student Panel:
A panel of graduate students will share their experiences and answer questions about starting a career in psychology.

Student Poster Session
Explore research posters presented by students at the high school, college, and graduate levels, showcasing their work in various areas of psychology. Students interested in presenting their work can find more information in the announcement below (deadline to apply is March 7th, 2025).
11am-12pm
Future Directions for Psychology: A Call from the Profession
Speaker: Dr. Debra Kawahara, President of the American Psychological Association
Dr. Kawahara will deliver a talk tailored for working professionals on future directions for the field of psychology. This session qualifies for 1 Continuing Education (CE) credit.

Seeking Poster Presentations
ALL PROPOSALS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY MARCH 7TH at 11:59 pm PST
Conference Date: Saturday, April 12th, 2025
Time: Poster set up between 8:30 and 8:45am. Q&A from 10-11am.
Location: Alliant International University, Fresno, 5130 E. Clinton Way, Fresno, CA 93727
Eligibility for submission: Open to all high school, college, or graduate students presenting on topics related to clinical psychology. Conceptual presentations as well as proposed or completed empirical studies will be accepted. Presentations focused on the topics of integrative behavioral health, substance abuse, and underserved populations are strongly encouraged to apply.
Poster printing and easels will be provided for all chosen presenters.
A $100 cash prize will be awarded for the best poster.
Submission Guidelines: All proposals must be submitted via the link above.
Submissions should include a 300-500-word summary or “abstract” of the proposed topic. Abstracts should provide an overview of the main topics that will be covered in the poster, including pertinent research and the topic’s relevance to clinical psychology. For empirical studies, the abstract should also include details on the study’s methods and results (if applicable).

Guidelines for Reviewing Proposals:
Following submission, the proposals will be sent out for anonymous review. Reviewers will be asked to consider the following in evaluating proposals:
Salience and importance of the topic: Is the proposal salient to the field of clinical psychology? Is it a topic likely to attract participants and encourage discussion among attendees?
Presentation: Does the proposal indicate this presentation will be effective and coherent? Will the presentation be comprehensible and useful to the audience? Are the key points of the presentation clearly highlighted?
Research design: If applicable, does the proposal have a theoretical grounding and an appropriate methodology? Does it clearly delineate how the research was carried out or the nature of the topic? Does it reference previous research by including a short citation list?
